What was happening

He places families into senior care communities across two Oregon counties. Getting that right means knowing which communities have beds, what level of care they offer, and who to call.

All of it lived on a wall. Google Map pages printed and taped together, covered with about fifty paper flags. Each flag had a community name, his contact there, and a colored dot for status.

It could not be searched. It could not be updated without redoing the wall. It could not be shared with his colleague. And it held none of the hard information he actually needed, like bed counts or inspection history.

What we did

• Pulled every licensed care facility in his two counties directly from Oregon's official state registry, with bed counts, addresses, contacts, and inspection records.
• Transcribed all fifty-two of his paper flags. Forty-two matched official records automatically, carrying his own contacts and status colors straight across.
• Built a private, passphrase-protected web app: map view, search across the full registry, and a detail card for every community.
• Gave him his own layer on top, so his notes, status, and availability sit alongside the state data rather than replacing it.
• Added a visit planner. Click a community, set a radius, and it lists the nearest homes to visit, then opens the route in Google Maps.

Where it landed

• 478 communities inside his territory, searchable on a phone instead of pinned to a wall.
• Bed counts and state inspection records on every community, which were never on the paper map.
• His colleague can use it too, which the wall never allowed.
• It refreshes from the state automatically, so it does not go stale.
• Built in about a day.
